<description>Here is the evidence and conclusion that is easily available to even the non-health policy wonk?
At the Clinton plan&#039;s funeral the power brokers of health care told us not to worry. Good old competition and market forces were the cure for the cost and access crisis.
What is the result of market forces at work?
Costs have doubled.
13 million more are uninsured.
Every other industrial democracy uses a national health insurance program of some type to achieve better outcomes at much lower costs.
Recently,Taiwan created a single payer national health insurance progrm and costs have been controlled and everyone is covered.
Conclusion: market forces are not the answer either disguised as competing HMO&#039;s of as consumer directed high deductible health plans. Single payer national health insurance works.
