The timing of Burgess's comments is very strange, considering that all of the media have been reporting since yesterday that the health reform law is becoming more popular: http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Daily-Reports/2010/June/30/health-reform-tracking-poll.aspx Tracking Poll Finds Health Reform Law Gaining in Popularity.

It's another case of the Republicans trying to coopt an issue away from the Democrats and eventually pass something themselves, like the misbegotten Part D drug law, lest the Democrats be considered the "heroes", Frank Luntz's worst nightmare. Burgess lists all of the things he's against with regard to health care delivery and financing, but he doesn't mention anything that he's for, except for the fee-for-service system. Nor does he offer any solutions.

The thought of a whole posse of single-issue doctors becoming politicians and thinking they can govern a country is a really nightmarish image.
