Following her husband’s stroke, it fell to Beth Ann Swan, a registered nurse and nursing school dean, to coordinate her recovering husband’s care and manage his transitions among several hospitals and home. Swan writes about her experience in the Narrative Matters section [1] of the November Health Affairs.

You can read Swan’s full essay [1], or listen to her read it [2], on the Health Affairs website, where you can also visit the Narrative Matters archive [3].  (All Narrative Matters essays are freely available in their entirety to all readers.) In addition, an abridged version of Swan’s piece appears in today’s Washington Post Health & Science section [4].
