A Chanukah Health Wonk Review

Health policy devotees of all faiths or none at all will enjoy Hank Stern’s Festival of Lights edition of the Health Wonk Review [1], posted last week on InsureBlog [2]. Hank’s description of Chanukah and most things Jewish — “sweetness … tempered with bitter reality” — is often a decent description of health policy as well.

Hank assembles a great collection of interesting posts, including a Health Affairs Blog post by Ashish Jha [3]. Jha explains why, contrary to the opinion of the HHS Office of Inspector General, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services got the balance mostly right in overseeing health IT “meaningful use” payments to physicians, hospitals, and other providers.
