Dennis McCarty, PhD, a professor in the Oregon Health & Science University-Portland State University School of Public Health, collaborates with state and federal policy makers as well as community-based programs to examine publicly funded prevention and treatment services for people with substance use disorders. McCarty is also the co-principal investigator for the Western States Node of the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network, which studies behavioral and pharmaceutical approaches to the problems. He has a doctorate in social psychology from the University of Kentucky.
