Jon Gabel, MA, a Senior Fellow at NORC, has 40 years of research in the field of health financing and economics. Prior to joining NORC, he was Vice President of the Health Research and Educational Trust and the Center for Studying Health System Change. He was Director of Survey Research for the benefits consulting practice of KPMG for six years and served as Director of Research for the American Association of Health Plans and Health Insurance Association of America, trade associations representing HMOs and health insurers. From 1986-2008 Mr. Gabel served as the principal or co-principal investigator on the Kaiser Family Foundation/Health Research and Educational Trust Employer Health Benefits Survey and its predecessor surveys. Mr. Gabel is the author of more than 140 peer-reviewed articles on health care financing and trends in employer-based insurance, including 71 articles in Health Affairs.
