Kevin Biese is an associate professor of emergency medicine and Internal medicine, vice chair of academic affairs, and co-director of the Division of Geriatrics Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. His passion is in improving systems of care for vulnerable patient populations with his research interests focused on geriatric emergency medicine clinical process improvement and education. With the support of West Health and the John A. Hartford Foundation, he serves as co-principal investigator of the national Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative—an innovative collaboration bringing together hospitals and health systems, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Geriatrics Society, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine to build upon decades of research, clinical enhancement programs, and educational initiatives to improve the care of older adults in emergency departments nationwide.
