What is Health Affairs Insider?
Health Affairs Insider is a membership community that includes insider-only access to content outside of the flagship journal.
Insiders get exclusive news from Health Affairs; entry to all Professional Development, Lunch & Learn, and Journal Club virtual events in the series; entry to an annual symposium conference, curated email newsletters on priority health policy topics such as health spending and social determinants of health; a special gift for joining and one every year you renew, and more.
Does Health Affairs Insider include a subscription to Health Affairs journal?
Health Affairs Insider does not include a subscription to Health Affairs—our standard journal subscription has not been affected by this update.
If you currently have a subscription to Health Affairs, you can add an Insider membership to your subscription. If you do not currently subscribe to the journal and would like to become an Insider, you can bundle the Health Affairs subscription and Health Affairs Insider as Health Affairs Unlimited.
What is Health Affairs Unlimited?
Health Affairs Unlimited is a bundle of a digital-only subscription to Health Affairs journal plus access to Insider, a membership community for access to content outside of the journal.
Unlimited members get digital-only access to all peer-reviewed content in Health Affairs; exclusive news from Health Affairs; entry to all Professional Development, Lunch & Learn, and Journal Club virtual events in the series; entry to an annual symposium conference; curated email newsletters on priority health policy topics such as health spending and social determinants of health; a special gift for joining and one every year you renew, and more.
Why did you create Health Affairs Insider?
The value of Health Affairs extends far beyond our flagship peer-reviewed journal. Health Affairs is a convener of health policy experts and a catalyst for research-informed change. We are viewed as agenda setters and sense makers and bring together great minds to deliver impact from the pages of the journal to highly-respected news outlets and testimonies in Congressional hearings.
Health Affairs is more than just a journal. It’s a community. Our publications, events, podcasts, and briefs have all contributed to a better understanding of the impact of health policy and helped members like you support your reports, research, and analysis.

What do the costs of Health Affairs Insider cover?
Health Affairs is a non-profit that operates because of grant funding and subscriptions. Support from Insider will allow us to remain editorially independent and continue providing non-partisan voices in today’s health policy conversations.
Currently, over 70 percent of Health Affairs content is freely available – and we’d like to keep it that way. With Insider support, we can continue to keep the industry-leading perspectives featured in our digital publication Health Affairs Forefront free for everyone.
What do I get access to as a Subscriber, Insider, or Unlimited member?
Health Affairs offers three tiers of access:
Subscriber: Standard peer-reviewed journal subscription only.
Insider: Insider-only access to events, premium newsletters, policy alerts, and more. Does not include a journal subscription.
Unlimited: All access pass to Health Affairs, including Insider features and digital access to the peer-reviewed journal and 40-year archive of health policy research.

How can I find out what I have access to?
To find out what you have access to, log into your account. Visit www.healthaffairs.org and click on the user profile in the top right-hand corner of the home page. Your username will be the email used for setting up your subscription or membership. You should receive an activation link from [email protected] after you purchase your subscription or membership. Your password must be 8 characters long and contain a capital letter, a lower-case letter, and special characters.

How do I get access to the journal/Insider/Unlimited?
To subscribe to the journal, become an Insider, or get Unlimited access, please visit our subscription and membership page.
Do you have a student discount to Health Affairs Insider?
Not at this time.
If you would like to purchase a student subscription to the Health Affairs peer-reviewed journal only, please register for a subscription. This will not include access to Insider content and benefits.
Can I gift a Health Affairs Insider membership?
Not at this time, but we plan to offer gift memberships soon.
Can I get a print copy of Health Affairs journal with Health Affairs Unlimited?
Not at this time. Health Affairs Unlimited includes digital-only access to the flagship journal.
If you would like a printed copy of Health Affairs, register for a print and online standard subscription. To confirm, a print copy is not included with Health Affairs Unlimited.
How do I attend Health Affairs virtual Insider members-only events?
In order to attend virtual events in the Lunch & Learn, Professional Development, and Journal Club series, you will need to have an Insider membership starting in June 2022.
Insider members will receive registration details via email as new events become available. Members can also register for new events by visiting the upcoming events section of the website. On the individual event page, members can register to attend upon login.

What virtual events are included with Health Affairs Insider?
Health Affairs Insiders get exclusive access to our special events program which includes Lunch and Learn, Professional Development, and Journal Club.
We offer a nonpartisan forum to promote analysis and discussions on improving health care and health policy. With our events, we bring together a diverse audience from the public and private sectors, academia, and traditional and digital media to share insightful conversations on the latest policy topics affecting health care today.
Lunch and Learn: Health Affairs hosts top researchers and analysts on timely topics and initiatives impacting health policy.
Professional Development: Join editors and special guests for these gatherings aimed at early to mid-career stage professionals offering “how to” tips for scholarly publishing, peer review, and enhancing communication skills.
Journal Club: These sessions feature authors of an impactful Health Affairs study from that month’s issue for an up-close look at research, methods, and findings.
Theme issue briefings, which are held alongside the launch of a monthly issue on a dedicated topic, and Policy Spotlights will continue to be available for all to attend.

No, we do not currently offer perpetual access after non-renewal or cancellation of a subscription or Health Affairs Insider.
How do I access my account?

How do I reset my password?
If you forgot your password, click on “Forgot password?” under the “Password” field in login box. Enter your email (which is also your username) and then click on “Submit.” This will send a temporary password to your email. The system will guide you through resetting your password.
How do I update my account details?
Visit www.healthaffairs.org and click on the user profile in the top right-hand corner of the home page. Your username will be the email used for setting up your subscription or membership. After you’ve signed in, you can navigate to your “Profile” by clicking on the filled in login icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. On the “Personal Details” page you can update your basic demographic details, password, and opt in to receiving various Health Affairs email alerts. All the fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
